Privacy
This page explains what personal data the shop at shop.markcrawford079.com collects, why, and what your rights are. We collect as little as we can.
Who is responsible
eventNET, Guido Blanke, Hofenstrasse 20A, 9300 Wittenbach, Switzerland, info@markcrawford079.com. See the imprint for details.
What we collect
- Your email address: to send your receipt, your download link and the sign-in links for My account.
- Your orders: order number, what you bought or gave, amount, currency, date and the payment reference from Stripe.
- The country you live in, when you buy a book: buyers in the European Union or the United Kingdom buy through Stripe as the seller. For other buyers Stripe passes us the billing country and the country of the card, so we can check that the right seller was used.
- Your IP address and browser: stored with orders, sign-in links and downloads, to prevent abuse and to sort out problems. Our web servers also keep a short technical log of requests.
We do not get your card details. You enter them on Stripe’s payment page, and we only see whether the payment succeeded.
Your copy of the book
Each PDF is personalised when you first download it: a licence page with your email address, your order number and a copy ID, and a short line with the same details at the bottom of every page. This identifies the copy as yours and discourages sharing it.
Cookies
Looking around the shop sets no cookies. Only when you choose a currency, add a
book to the cart, leave a tip or sign in does the shop set two cookies,
cfid and cftoken. They hold your cart, your currency and your
sign-in together while you use the shop. They contain no personal data, are not
used for tracking, are sent over encrypted connections only and are deleted when
you close your browser.
There are no analytics, no advertising, no social media plugins and no fonts or scripts loaded from other companies.
Who else receives data
- Stripe processes the payments (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland, and Stripe, Inc., USA). Stripe receives your email address, the amount and the details you enter on its payment page, and handles them under its own privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy. When you buy a book from the EU or the UK, Stripe is the seller and decides on its own how it uses your name, billing address and payment details for that sale (controller in its own right).
- Our own servers send the emails and host the shop, both in Switzerland.
We do not sell your data or pass it to anyone else, unless the law requires it. Mark Crawford does not receive any details of buyers or of people who leave a tip.
How long we keep it
- Orders and payment records: 10 years, as Swiss accounting law requires.
- Your customer record (email address) stays as long as you can download your books in My account. Ask us and we delete it; the order records stay as above.
- Sign-in links expire after 30 minutes.
- Web server logs: kept for one year by eventNET only and not passed on to anyone.
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its use, or get a copy. Write to info@markcrawford079.com. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
We process your data to fulfil your order (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), to meet legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) and, for logs and abuse prevention, in our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). Showing your name is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time. Swiss law (FADP) applies in addition.
